A cinematic piece built on the Shymer Library from Ghosthack. Shymer is a beautifully mastered collection of samples, presets and midi snippets, which allow you to quickly assemble ethereal soundscapes. Thanks to the library, the basic piece was pulled together in about 30 minutes.
Carmina Burana - The Radical Remix
A work in progress remix of Carmina Burana, re-imagined with some Dub overtones. Traktor used to extract some of the components, original voices and arrangement added on a Komplete S and MPK 225 using Komplete Ultimate Library ... assembled in Bitwig Studio.
Forest Lament - Ambient
Playing with the latest plugin from Eduardo Tarilonte on a rainy Sunday weekend in Toronto. This short study lens a bit more into cinematic vibe.
Tatooine Rave - Trance
Leveraged the amazing Cantus and Shevannai instruments from Edwardo Tarilonte in addition to the Exhale vocal instrument from Output. Composed recently on a flight back from London, inspired by the unreal cloudscape out the window. Still a work in progress.
Fictional Movie Score - Cinematic
Inspired by a recent Masterclass with Hans Zimmer ... a very rough cut experimenting with some themes for a fictional movie ... some limited machine sound processing done by LANDR (though that's actually not great for classical tracks).
Sound engineers ... movie scorers ... apologies in advance. And Zimmer would hate this ... way too many violins ... but I was in that sort of a mood and it was a nice break from the EDM :-)
Because If Elves Met Monks They Would Surely Make Music
Experimented for the first time with two amazing Kontakt libraries over the weekend. Featured in the piece are Edwardo Tarilonte's Cantus Monks and his equally amazing Shevannai Elves. Both virtual instruments that allow you to create rich soundscapes. Work in progress.
Cinematic Dub (2 hour project)
Sat down on a dreary Toronto morning and gave myself a 2 hour window to deliver something end-end. This track leverages the excellent Drop Squad Expansion Pack for Maschine.
I gave myself a bit of a head start with the "Back To Dub Roots" sample project. The rest was played in on Maschine Studio, and my tiny CME xKey travelling keyboard. Track was mastered on-line with LANDR. Despite having used Bitwig for a number of months now, getting back to Maschine was a breeze thanks to the workflow of Machine Studio.
Alpha 9 - Come Home (Heathrow Remix)
Was sitting in the BA lounge in Heathrow's Terminal 5 waiting to head down to Cape Town for a couple of days, and had some fun remixing Ferry Corsten's version of Alpha 9's Come Home.
Still a rough cut at this stage ... but couldn't help but think what fun a Heathrow Dance Party would be.
Experimental Reggae
Having been born in Jamaica, one would have expected that I would have worked on a Reggae track before. Nope ... but here goes! This Sunday Sessions experiment was built with the help of the Black Arc Expansion Pack from Native Instruments, some Vocal samples from LoopMasters. A few elements of Reggae, Dub, Cuban and Calypso ... just because one can :-)
Chillout (the Sunday sessions)
A small project to pass the time on a dreary and cold winters day in Toronto. Pulled together inside Maschine with some help from Night Sky.
Neon Playtime (2 hour project)
Another Saturday morning (two hour) project. This time, starting with the excellent NEON Maschine Expansion Pack from Native Instruments, and the demo track "Fever Line". A wonderful way to explore what is possible with Maschine and the Komplete Library.
Erasure Elevation Dancefloor Mix
Work in progress snippet remix of Erasure's Elevation ... Still very rough (mix needs to be cleared up in parts, and it's too dense in others) ... Suggestions welcome.
I Am Your Shadow (late night remix)
Late night remix of Giuseppe Ottaviani's I am your shadow. Tried for a softer, more late night feel.
Dangerous (On The Road Remix Take 1)
Road Trip Sessions - Take One. With Bitwig Studio, a MacBook Pro, an xKey portable keyboard and a Launchpad S, you can create and remix anywhere. This is the first take of a remix of Dangerous ... and still a little rough around the edges, but that's what the second take is for. Thanks to Dr. K, Nii & Shiha for the excellent source material.
